Which compression level should I use?

Start with Balanced (150 DPI) — it keeps text selectable and gives large reductions on scanned or image-heavy PDFs. Use High Quality (300 DPI) for documents you may print. Use Lossless for text-only PDFs, and Extreme only when the smallest possible file matters more than selectable text.

Does compression reduce quality?

Lossless does not touch quality at all. Balanced and High Quality re-encode embedded images as JPEG at a lower resolution — a visible-but-modest quality trade for much smaller files. Extreme rasterizes each page, so text becomes an image.

Will my text stay selectable?

Yes — in Lossless, Balanced and High Quality modes only images are changed, so text and layout are preserved. Only Extreme mode flattens pages and removes selectable text.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
